Search Engine Optimization 101: Working Keywords into Your Web Pages

A while back, I wrote a review of SEMRush, a great search engine marketing tool that can help you with your keyword research. As you use this keyword research tool, though, it’s critical that you understand exactly how keywords themselves are a part of your overall search engine optimization plan for your website. Let’s review how to work keywords into your web pages. I still use SEMrush on a daily basis, even after all of these years. I see it as an invaluable tool, and use it as a part of my SEO strategy.

One of the ways you can improve your web pages to make them more appealing to traffic is to focus on the use of keywords. They need to be in your title tag as well as in your pages so keep that in mind as well. You should also be using them as part of your meta description tag.

The keywords you use on your web pages should be influenced by who your niche market is. They are going to help drive more of that traffic your direction when consumers type them into search engines. You want to make sure you mention those keywords several times on various pages. You also want to use variations of those keywords and keyword phrases. This will prevent your materials from sounding repetitive and robotic.

Make sure you know the keywords you need to incorporate for each web pages before the material is written. If you have a copywriter, they will definitely need that information. They also need to know what the number of times is that you want that keyword or keyword phrase to show up on the page. Ideally, you want a keyword density of at least 3% but no more than 5%.

You want to include those keywords in your headings as well as the body of your web pages. By conducting some research, you will be able to identify which keywords are the best for your particular niche market too.
